Kazakhstan intends to use logistics advantage of its Karaganda Region to mediate in transportation of Chinese postal cargo to the countries of the EEU (Eurasian Economic Union).

“We work on a project to create an international postal hub in the territory of the Saryarka Airport in the Karaganda Region,” said the head of the local executive body (akimat), Yerlan Koshanov, during a press conference in Astana, Kazakh media reported.

Previously, the Kazakh postal operator Kazpost JSC announced plans to actively develop the delivery of goods between China and Europe.

The company has already signed agreements with Russian, Lithuanian, Polish and Turkish postal services and has opened points in Khorgos - Eastern Gate Economic Zone, where Chinese logistics companies hand over goods that Kazpost JSC further brings to end-users in Europe and Russia.

Chinese experts estimate that 200 million packages will be transported from China to Europe and 18 million will be delivered from Europe to China via Kazakhstan.
