Turkmenistan preparing for cotton sowing

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov instructed the administration in the districts of the country to organize proper cooperation of structures that will be involved in the forthcoming sowing of cotton, the Watan newspaper reported.
Berdimuhamedov noted that it is important to carry out all planned agricultural activities in a timely manner and at the highest level, said the report.
In Turkmenistan, sowing of cotton usually starts in late March.
Cotton occupies an important place in Turkmen exports and is a demanded raw material for dozens of modern facilities dynamically developing in the country’s textile industry.
Overall area of cultivated land is more than 500,000 hectares.
