By Huseyn Hasanov – Trend:

Turkmen President Gurbangulu Berdimuhamedov believes that the prospects for optimizing the transport networks "North-South" and "West-East" through the road, rail and sea links are justified at this stage.

This is announced in his message to participants of the high-level summit of the heads of state of the Central Asia countries held in Astana on March 15.

These projects can connect vast areas from the Pacific to the Caspian and Black Seas, from the north of European continent to the Indian Ocean.

Turkmenistan is ready for constructive discussion and development of joint plans in this direction, the Turkmen leader said in his message, which was disseminated by local media on March 16.

The key links in the transnational transport corridors will be the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran and Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Tajikistan railways, airports in Ashgabat and regions of Turkmenistan, highways, bridges across the Amu Darya, the Turkmenbashi international seaport and other facilities that have already been completed or being built in the country.
