The collection spots of Lebap province (region) - the largest producer of cocoons in Turkmenistan - received the first tens of tons of lightweight, flexible, high-quality cocoons, "Neutral Turkmenistan" newspaper reported.
This year, the silk growers of the Amudarya valley plan to sell 950 tons of industrial raw materials to the government.
Turkmenistan has established an industrial base in Ashgabat and Turkmenabat for the processing of silk raw materials and the production of fabrics and finished silk products.
For example, the Turkmenabat Silk Production Association operates a complex equipped with automated lines of the latest generation, using Chinese technology. It produces silk yarn that meets international standards.
"The thickness of yarn is not more than 30 microns, which is thinner than a human hair. Fabrics and finished products that are in demand in the consumer market are produced from silk thread of our own production," said the report.
