Turkmenistan is carrying out large-scale work for modernization of the textile industry, the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper writes.
Technological re-equipment of production facilities of this industry is carried out in order to implement strategic objectives to increase import substitution and export volumes of high-quality textile products.
At a government meeting, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stressed that this sector of the national economy has a huge resource potential and occupies a priority place as one of the key areas of the domestic light industry.
This is confirmed by the recent decisions on construction of new textile complexes for the processing of fine-fiber cotton in the Akhal region.
The textile industry of Turkmenistan includes more than 70 textile and garment enterprises, of which about half are high-tech.
