Uzbekistan receives almost $1B in transfers from abroad

In the 1Q2018, individuals transferred $949.4 million to Uzbekistan from abroad, the Central Bank of Uzbekistan stated.

Out of the total amount, $481.3 million amounted for money transfers as foreign currency.

The largest amount of international money transfers fell on Russia (77.2 percent), Turkey (5.1 percent), Kazakhstan (4.2 percent), the United States (3.8 percent) and South Korea (2.3 percent).

According to the Central Bank of Uzbekistan, the total income of citizens of the country living abroad amounted to $1.5 billion.

The investment income of residents (for example, dividends on investments) totaled $41.1 million, with the investment income of non-residents amounting to $393.8 million, of which $197.1 million fell on the reinvested income and $136.1 million fell on the accrued interest on foreign loans. The negative balance was $352.7 million.
