Trend:

Terminals of the Uzbek national processing center UzCard have begun accepting cards of the Chinese payment system UnionPay International (UPI) throughout Uzbekistan, Podrobno.uz reported.

The terminal network, which will serve UPI cards in all regions of Uzbekistan, currently has about 150,000 terminals. In addition, as of today, several banks in Uzbekistan have already become members of the UPI.

"Further development of this project is a strategically important step towards comprehensive cooperation and interaction between UzCard and UPI," UzCard said.

The UPI payment system is the largest and dynamically developing Chinese payment system, founded in 2002 with the support of the Central Bank of the People's Republic of China. To date, over 5.5 billion cards have been issued worldwide. UPI cards are accepted for service in more than 150 countries of the world, in particular, they are serviced by over 1.1 million ATMs.
