Cotton harvest has started in Zhetysay District of Kazakhstan's Turkestan Province, the local government of the province said in a message.
Last year an average of 25 centners per one hectare were harvested in the province (a total of 286,400 tons), and this year the harvest is not expected to be lower than last year's figure.
At present, about 70 cotton harvesters of American company John Deere are being prepared. Farmers receive reduced-price fuel and lubricants from the state.
In addition, work is underway on the chemical treatment of fields.
