Uzbekistan ranks 3rd for timber export from Russia's Altai

In January-August 2018, Uzbekistan ranked third by the volume of timber exports from Russia's Altai Krai and Altai Republic, the press service of the Altai Customs said.

In the first eight months of 2018, 420,000 cubic meters of Altai timber with a total weight of 260,900 tons were exported. Most of the timber was supplied to China (38.9 percent), Afghanistan (30 percent) and Uzbekistan (28.5 percent). These countries accounted for 97.5 percent of the exports.

Russia is one of the leading trade and economic partners of Uzbekistan. The Central Asian state is on the fourth place in terms of commodity turnover with Russia among the CIS countries. In 2017, it amounted to $3.6 billion and increased by 33.9 percent.

In January-February 2018, trade turnover increased by 50.2 percent and reached almost $600 million. Russia's exports grew by 59.7 percent, and imports by 28.1 percent. At the same time, the total investments from Russia to Uzbekistan exceeded $8.5 billion.
