Russia's Eurocement Group has begun construction of Central Asia's largest cement plant in Uzbekistan, Uzbek media reported.
According to the information, on Oct. 17, a foundation stone was laid for the new cement plant. Construction of the plant entered an active stage.
Total investments in the project will exceed $160 million.
"The capacity of the plant is 3 million tons of cement per year. Uzbekistan will receive the first batch of products from it in mid-2020. This plant will become the flagship of the cement industry and a powerful support for the growth of the economy of Uzbekistan,” President of the Eurocement Group Mikhail Skorokhod said.
It will be the largest cement plant in Central Asia and the most modern in the CIS with full automation of production, low energy consumption and minimal environmental impact.
