Chinese company to build cement plant in Uzbekistan

Construction of a new $153-million cement plant has started in the Fergana region of Uzbekistan, Uzbek media reported.

The village of Shursuv, which has large reserves of limestone and clay, in the Uzbekistan district of the region was chosen for the implementation of the investment project.

To implement the project, a joint venture, Kukon Euro Qurilish Materiali, has been established in cooperation with the Juydam Tamir Qurilish LLC and the Chinese company Beijing Triumph International Engineering Co., Ltd.

According to the project, the joint venture will produce 1 million tons of cement and 33 million square meters of drywall per year, over 1,000 people will be provided with permanent work.

"In the future, we plan to implement many projects in the field of housing and road construction. Uzbekistan has great potential for that. We have launched a number of investment projects in other regions. The construction of the enterprise will take two years and will allow filling the domestic market with high-quality cement drywall," CEO of the company Ming Liang Ma said.
