In the first five months of the current Iranian year (started March 21), Iran imported 9.5 tons of chamomile, Mizan News Agency reported citing the Iran Customs Administration.
Iran has spent $18,329 on the 9.5 tons of chamomile imports.
The chamomile was imported from Egypt and Afghanistan.
According to the report, 8,750 kilos of the chamomile, worth $16,829, was imported from Egypt.
After the strong devaluation in Iranian market and the US sanctions on the country, purchase of non-essential goods has become a controversial issue among Iranians.
