In the first seven months of the current Iranian year (started March 21), Iran's Hormozgan Province exported direct reduced iron (aka sponge iron) and steel worth $508.418 million, Chairman of the Hormozgan Province Organization of Industry, Mine and Trade Khalil Qassemi said, IRNA reported.
The imports of these two products exceeded one million tons during the reported period, Qassemi said.
Direct reduced iron and steel are mainly exported to Thailand, Brazil, Indonesia, China and Italy, Qassemi said.
He also noted that Hormozgan's total non-oil exports for the current year have been forecast at $3 billion, while last year's non-oil exports amounted to $2 billion.
