Since early 2018, rice harvested from 1,250 hectares in Azerbaijan's Astara district amounted to 2,200 tons, which is 800 tons more compared to 2017, the head of Mughan CJSC Talat Mammadov told Trend.
Mammadov noted that in 2017 1,400 tons of rice were harvested from 930 hectares in Astara district.
He stressed that the rice varieties imported from Iran showed the highest crop capacity.
"Good crop capacity was observed in Hashimi rice imported from Iran, as well as the in the local varieties, such as Sadri, Hasani and Pahriz, which are traditionally grown in this zone," - Mammadov said.
