Azerbaijan may begin to supply milk to Saudi Arabia, Samir Eyyubov, chairman of the board of the Azerbaijan Milk and Dairy Products Producers and Exporters Association, told Trend on Dec. 10.
“Two Azerbaijani companies export dairy products,” he said. “Atena company exports dairy products to the Middle Eastern countries, while MPro exports dairy products to Russia.”
Eyyubov stressed that the main task of the association is to provide the domestic market with milk and dairy products, as well as implement new standards for these products.
He added that steps are being taken to stimulate the development of dairy farming in the country.
The Azerbaijan Milk and Dairy Products Producers and Exporters Association was established on January 26, 2018. Presently, the association brings together 20 companies. The negotiations are underway with new companies.
Milk production amounted to 1.7 million tons in Azerbaijan in January-October 2018, which is 2.2 percent more than in the same period of last year.
Whole milk production amounted to 758,900 tons, which is 1.8 percent more than in January-October 2017.
