By Rashid Shirinov – Trend:

Kazakhstan exceeded by 25 percent the annual plan for beef exports, Trend reports with reference to the Kazakh media.

Representatives of the country’s Agriculture Ministry said this at a briefing for the year on the main sectors of agriculture: livestock and crop production.

As of December 21, beef exports amounted to 18,800 tons, while the plan was 15,000 tons. Almost half of the exported beef came from the Turkistan region of the country.

In the second half of this year, a large-scale implementation of a long-term sectoral program for the beef farming development began, which is based on small and medium-sized farms.

To implement it, a special preferential credit product - Sybaga - was launched. This year, the plan has already been exceeded, despite the fact that its implementation began in the second half of the year. To date, more than 700 farmers received loans.

It was also noted at the briefing that 22.8 million tons of grain were harvested in 2018 with a yield of 15.1 centers per hectare. Thus, grain harvest exceeds the last year level by 760,000 tons or 3 percent, and the yield is higher by 0.6 centers per hectare or 4 percent.

Speakers also noted that the cucumber cultivated area increased by 2,500 hectares this year, and the gross harvest amounted to 460,000 tons, which is 50 000 tons more than last year.

In order to stabilize prices for socially important food products, Kazakhstan’s regions are forming stabilization funds for food products, and wholesale and retail centers are being built in 5 major cities of the country.
