The construction of 18 metro stations continues in Istanbul, as part of the Vision 2023 government program, Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey told Trend on Jan. 14.
The ministry noted that the total length of all metro stations, which are under construction, is about 400 kilometers.
"Some of stations, which are under construction, will be commissioned at the end of 2019 and the rest in 2022," the ministry said.
The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey had earlier told Trend that the length of the Istanbul Metro lines will be increased by 600 kilometers.
Istanbul’s metro consists of eight lines, six of which are in the European part of the city. There are about 70 stations in Istanbul metro, the length of its lines is 160 kilometers.
Previously, it was reported that 10.8 billion Turkish liras will be invested in development of Turkey's railway infrastructure in 2018.
The work is underway in Turkey to implement 50 transport and communication projects.
