Kazakhstan reveals inflation rate

Inflation in Kazakhstan in January 2019 was 0.5 percent since the beginning of the year, Trend reports referring to the Kazakh media.

The Statistics Committee informed that food prices in Kazakhstan increased by 1.3 percent, non-food prices by 0.3 percent, and prices of paid services rose by 0.2 percent.

Prices increased for fresh vegetables (12.2 percent), eggs (2.1 percent), rennet cheese (1.5 percent), rice (1.3 percent), poultry and horse meat (1.2 percent each), butter (1.1 percent), sausages (0.9 percent), meat products and flour (0.8 percent each), lamb, bakery and flour products (0.7 percent each), pasta, milk, sunflower oil, pork and confectionery (0.5 percent each).

Also, prices rose for tobacco products by 3.6 percent and for alcoholic beverages by 0.8 percent. A decline of 1.4 percent in prices was recorded for granulated sugar.

Prices also increased for textiles (1 percent), pharmaceuticals, personal goods, furniture and household items (0.8 percent each), vehicles (0.7 percent), washing and cleaning products (0.6 percent), clothes, shoes and household appliances (0.5 percent each).

Coal dropped in price by 1.7 percent, gasoline by 1.2 percent and liquefied gas in cylinders by 0.3 percent.

At the same time, prices rose for legal services and insurance of personal vehicles (5 percent each), health services (0.9 percent), catering and pre-school institution services (0.7 percent each), hairdressing and personal care services (0.6 percent).

Prices fell for travel by air transport (7.9 percent) and by rail (4.2 percent).

In the housing and utilities sector, central heating prices fell 3.6 percent, sewerage 2.1 percent, cold water 2 percent, electricity 1.4 percent, gas 0.4 percent and garbage disposal 0.3 percent.
