The development of entrepreneurship in Azerbaijan remains a priority of the state policy and important measures have been taken in this sphere, Azerbaijani Deputy Minister of Economy Niyazi Safarov said.

Safarov made the remarks at the forum entitled "Diversification of economy - role of private sector," Trend reports on March 6.

“An important step in this sphere is great reduction in the number of procedures for launching business,” he added.

"The reforms carried out in the country have strengthened the state control system and also greatly simplified the process of obtaining licenses by entrepreneurs and carrying out export operations,” Safarov said. “The statistics shows that the work is being actively carried out in the field of private entrepreneurship, which contributes to an increase in the amount of investments within the country."

He also stressed the importance of creating industrial zones and developing human capital.

"The construction of SOCAR Polymer Plant is one of the important strategic projects in the country in terms of the contribution of investments to the business sphere,” Safarov added. “I think that the banking sector also plays an important role in expanding the business opportunities indicated in the strategic maps adopted during the recent reforms in Azerbaijan and upcoming reforms in the future."

The forum entitled "Diversification of economy - role of private sector" is being held in Baku.

The representatives of the World Bank, the Central Bank of Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Taxes are taking part in the forum.
