Kazakhstan, Brazil to expand co-op

Kazakhstan and Brazil agreed on creation of a special-purpose operator company, Trend reports via the press office of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Federative Republic of Brazil.

Kairat Sarzhanov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Federative Republic of Brazil, administration of Brazil Bahia State and Bahia Mineração company signed an agreement on creation of special-purpose operator company in order to realize the project on «Porto Sul» seaport construction and to integrate two of the port's private terminals. The seaport is to be constructed in Aritaguá district of Bahia’s Ilhéus city.

Within the framework of ambassador’s visit to Salvador, Bahia meetings with Rui Costa, the Governor of the State, Ricardo Alban, the CEO of Federation of Industries of the State of Bahia and Angelo Júnior, the CEO of Brazilian Foreign Trade Association took place. During these meetings topics of prospects for trade, economic and investment cooperation between Kazakhstan and Bahia State were covered.

Bahia Mineração is a Brazilian company that started its organization in 2005 with a pioneer project in the State of Bahia. The enterprise called Pedra de Ferro Project has been designed to produce 18 million tons of iron ore per year, to be one of the most modern mining companies worldwide and to contribute to transform Bahia into the third largest iron ore producer in Brazil.

Bahia Mineração is also to invest the «Porto Sul» seaport construction and is planning to participate in construction of an area of South West integrative railway, which will connect “Pedra de Ferro” to the seaport in order to transport iron ore.
