From July 1, 2019, the excise tax on alcohol and tobacco products will increase by 20 percent in Uzbekistan, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Justice of Uzbekistan.
This increase is envisaged by a presidential decree on the forecast of the main macroeconomic indicators and parameters of the State Budget of Uzbekistan for 2019 and budget guidelines for 2020-2021.
For comparison, currently the rate of excise tax on ethyl alcohol is 70 percent, and for tobacco the excise tax is $ 60 per 1000 pieces.
The report of the State Statistics Committee shows that in January-April 2019, prices for tobacco products in the country increased by 23.5 percent and alcoholic beverages by 12.4 percent compared with the same period last year.
