Food still leads price rally in Uzbekistan

Foods in Uzbekistan in June 2019 became more expensive by 16.3 percent, compared to the same period in 2018, Trend reports with reference to State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

At the same time, cost for services rose by 12.9 percent, while price of non-food products increased by 10.9 percent.

Analysis of the monthly price trends for food in annual terms (to the corresponding month of the previous year) showed that if in the first half of 2018 there was a significant decrease in the level of price growth (from 26.8 percent to 19.4 percent), in the corresponding period of 2019 the overall trend has been upward (from 14.1 percent to 16.3 percent).

Furthermore, the level of price growth in absolute terms in January-June 2019 was lower than in the same period in 2018, the State Statistics Committee reported.

The top three leaders in price growth in annual terms of food products are bread products (25.3 percent), fruits and vegetables (18.6 percent) and food provided by catering (17.3 percent).

In comparison with June 2018, rice became more expensive 1.3 times, milk - by 25.6 percent, flour - by 17.1 percent, and eggs - by 16.1 percent.

Of the meat products, lamb prices increased by 12.1 percent, boneless beef - by 8.6 percent, other beef - by 12.4 percent, chicken drumstick and chicken legs - by 11.5 percent and other poultry meat - by 13.5 percent.
