Some 20 trillion rials (app. $476 million) have been invested in Iran's mining sector over the past 7 months, said the head of Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) Khodadad Gharibpour, Trend reports referring to the organization's website.
According to him, the private sector provided 11.3 trillion rials (app. $ 269 million) of the investments made in the aforementioned period.
Gharibpour believes that the private sector's participation in the mining industry on such a scale can bring forth major positive changes to the industry, adding that a program for carrying out new excavations in a 300,000-square kilometer area will soon be announced to relevant companies and governmental institutions.
