Georgia imports over 600M kWh of electricity from Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan exported 641.4 million kWh of electricity to Georgia in the first seven months of 2019, Trend reports with reference to Electricity System Commercial Operator of Georgia (ESCO).

During the reporting period, Georgia imported total of 716 million kWh of electricity, which is 21 percent more than the same period last year.

In particular, electricity imports from Russia reached 74.7 million kWh, having increased by 139 percent in January-July 2019 compared to the same period last year.

Unlike previous years, in July 2019, Georgia exported electricity in a small amount of about 7 million kWh). Last year, the exports amounted to 133 million kWh.

Since 2006, the Electricity System Commercial Operator of Georgia (ESCO) has been providing stability to the Georgian electric power sector, uninterrupted electricity supply to the country and contributing to active development of the Georgian energy system.
