By Elnur Baghishov - Trend:

The Tehran-Istanbul train will be launched by the end of this Iranian year (started March 21, 2019), said Iran’s Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Planning Shahram Adamnejad, Trend reports citing ISNA.

He said that corresponding agreements have been reached in this regard.

He added that the commissioning of the Tehran-Istanbul train doesn’t require infrastructure operations and only economic issues should be regulated in this regard.

Commenting on Iran and Turkey’s uniting their railways, he said that the work is underway in this direction.

In recent discussions, the Turkish side proposed the laying of the railway at a distance of less than 10 kilometers for connecting the north of Iran’s West Azerbaijan province and Turkey’s Gurbulag village, he said.

He said that a study will be conducted in this regard and the results will be announced within two months.

He noted that it is impossible to announce any exact date regarding this project, because the technical research is needed.

The Tehran-Ankara train was launched August 7 this year and about 250 passengers are transported to Ankara weekly.
