Rail freight transport amounted to $2.26 billion in Azerbaijan in the period of January-September 2019, which is 5.5 percent more than the figures for the same period of last year, Trend reports referring to the country's State Customs Committee.
During the reported period, freight transportation by rail amounted to almost 5.261 million tons, which is 10.7 percent more than last year.
The volume of export rail traffic amounted to 1.7 million tons (an increase of 7.8 percent) in the amount of $520.6 million (a decrease of 1.6 percent).
Meanwhile, railway transshipment of imported goods amounted to 3.6 million tons (increase of 12.1 percent) during the reported period and was worth $1.7 billion (an increase of 7.8 percent).
Azerbaijan’s trade amounted to $25.244 billion during the reporting period overall, with exports worth $14.87 billion, and imports worth almost $10.378 billion.
