A cement plant situated in Turkmenistan’s Garlyk settlement of Lebap region has exported about 225,000 tons of high-quality cement to Uzbekistan and Afghanistan since early 2019, Trend reports referring to Business-Turkmenistan agency.

The plant produced 651,347 tons of cement from January through September 2019. Some 935,617 tons of cement were produced in 2018.

The plant has chemical-spectral, physical and technological laboratories. The enterprise produces popular grades of cement M-400, M-500 and M-400 (sulfate-resistant) used in the construction of hydraulic structures as well as trial batches of M-400 – D-20 and M-500-D-20 grades of cement.

The main export volume accounts for neighboring Uzbekistan. Cement is transported from the right bank of the Amu Darya, where the plant is located, through the Kelif station by railway towards Termez and Qarshi cities. Vehicles are used in the direction of other Uzbek city - Bukhara.

Cement is shipped to Afghanistan via the Atamyrat – Ymamnazar – Akin highway.

The plant is located near the quarries of gypsum, quartz sand and clay. The enterprise, with the annual production capacity of one million tons of cement, was commissioned by Turkish company Polimeks Insaat Taahhut ve San. Tic. A.S. in 2013.
