Turkmenistan may open trading house in Kazakhstan

The Turkmen officials met with Kazakh ambassador to Turkmenistan Yerkebulan Sapiev at the Turkmen Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, Trend reports referring to the Union.

The sides discussed the possibilities of opening the Turkmen trading house in Kazakhstan.

The cooperation between the two countries is at a high level, which creates opportunities for enhancing relations in various fields, as well as at the level of small and medium-sized businesses.

The sides named trade, agriculture, the transport and communication sector, tourism and textile production as the productive spheres of cooperation.

There are 12 entities from Kazakhstan in Turkmenistan, five of them are branches, four relate to the economic organizations, three – governmental organizations.

Ashgabat and Nur-Sultan are also discussing the prospects for the development of the legal framework, cooperation in the gas sector, agriculture, development of cross-border mineral deposits, transport, environment and fisheries.

Kazakhstan is involved in a big project to supply the Central Asian gas to China. CNPC has been purchasing Turkmen fuel since 2009 through the territories of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.

Moreover, the project on the construction of the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran transnational railway was implemented in December 2014. In accordance with the preliminary estimates, the annual transport volume may total 10-12 million tons of cargo.

Kazakhstan joined the Central Asia - Middle East transport corridor project (Uzbekistan - Turkmenistan - Iran - Oman) in 2016. The Central Asian countries will get the access to the ports of the Persian and Oman gulfs via the new corridor in the future.
