The implementation of mining and industrial projects worth 140 trillion rials (about $3.3 billion) will be launched in Iran’s south-eastern Kerman province this Iranian year (beginning on March 21, 2019), Mehdi Huseyninejad, Chairman of the Industry, Mining and Trade Organization of the Kerman province, said, Trend reports referring to the organization’s website.
“The implementation of mining and industrial projects worth about 100 trillion rials (about $2.3 billion) was launched two years ago from March 21, 2017 through March 21, 2018,” the chairman said.
“The implementation of mining and industrial projects worth 60 trillion rials (about $1.4 billion) was launched last Iranian year (from March 21, 2018 through March 21, 2019),” the chairman added.
Huseyninejad said that these projects are expected to be implemented two years later (from March 21, 2021 through March 21, 2022).
The chairman of the organization said that last Iranian year the National Iranian Copper Industry Company sold the products worth more than 100 trillion rials (about $2.3 billion).
“In accordance with the law, the funds of regional companies should be transferred to the province for financial turnover,” the chairman said. “However, a logical step was planned to be taken for the company not to have problems.”
Huseyninejad said that about 40 trillion rials (about $952 million) were transferred to the province last year by Golgohar Mining and Industrial Company and the National Iranian Copper Industry Company.
The chairman of the organization said that over the past few days, about 15 trillion rials (about $357 million) have been paid by the National Iranian Copper Industry Company to the banks of the province.
Huseyninejad said that in accordance with the law, 15 percent of the state's mining fees should be returned to the province. However, in accordance with a report by the Iranian Supreme Audit Court, an average of 0.5 percent has been returned to Kerman province over the past 12 years.
The chairman of the organization said that about 6 percent (300 billion rials - about $7.1 million) has been returned to the province with the help of the Provincial Mines Council. These funds are currently being spent on road, electricity, mining and other resources in the province.
