Copper ores and concentrates rank first in list of top export items in Georgia

BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 19

Copper ores and concentrates reclaimed the first place in the list of top export items in Georgia from January through November 2019, equaling $601.9 million or 17.8 percent of total exports, Trend reports with reference to National Statistical Office of Georgia (Geostat).

As reported, the exports of motor cars totaled $594.6 million and their share in the total exports amounted to 17.6 percent.

The ferroalloy exports occupied the third place standing at $261.2 million and constituting 7.7 percent of the total exports.

The top import commodities from January through November 2019 were petroleum and petroleum oils; their imports to Georgia equaled $685.8 million (8.4 percent of the total imports).

The motor cars followed in the list with $579.4 million or 7.1 percent of imports.

The copper ores and concentrates were third in the top import commodity list with $545.1 million (6.7 percent of imports).

The external merchandise trade (excluding non-declared trade) of Georgia amounted to $11.5 billion from January through November 2019, 1.4 percent higher year-on-year. The exports equaled $3.4 billion (11.7 percent higher), while the imports stood at $8.1 billion (2.3 percent lower).
