A new cement plant has been launched in the Besharyk district of Uzbekistan’s Fergana region, created with the participation of Chinese Shaanxi Xiangsheng company, Trend reports citing Uzbek media.
Thanks to the advanced technologies used in production, the enterprise is capable of producing 2,500 tons of high-quality cement per day.
The first phase of the project has already been launched - it has mastered $113 million of investments and created 300 new jobs. In May 2020, investors plan to complete the second phase of the project, and the plant will reach full capacity by the end of the year. In this case, more than 700 local residents will be provided with work.
Chinese investors are opening similar plants in five regions of Uzbekistan. Enterprises will be able to produce 6 million tons of high-quality cement per year.
In total, over the past year in the Fergana region, foreign direct investment of $350 million was mastered, which is two times more than in 2018. There have been 118 new enterprises with the participation of foreign capital created. Currently, there are 409 joint ventures in the region.
