Azerbaijan’s total production of footwear, clothes, yarn and leather products amounted to 427.5 million manat ($251.4 million) from January through December 2019, which is 33.2 percent more compared to the same period of 2018, Trend reports referring to the report of country’s State Statistical Committee.
Production of clothes increased by 22.6 percent, while the production of leather goods, footwear and yarn dropped by 2.9 percent.
Retail trade of textile products, clothing and footwear increased by 4.6 percent and amounted to 6.9 billion manat ($4 billion).
Clothing and footwear accounted for about 17.5 percent of overall consumer spending.
The prices for clothes increased by 0.1 percent, the prices for footwear increased by 0.6 percent and the prices for fabrics increased by 0.2 percent in December 2019 compared to November 2019. The prices for these products increased by 1.8 percent, 0.7 percent and 1.6 percent on the annualized basis, respectively.
