Iran reveals income of knowledge-based companies

TEHRAN, Iran, April 28
Trend:

Iran's knowledge based companies' income during past Iranian year (started March 21, 2019) was $3 billion, so increasing the number of science and technology parks would be valuable, said Iranian President.

"Science and technology parks are a big investment, and knowledge based companies can effect economy by employment of university students," said Hassan Rouhani, Trend reports citing IRNA.

"Around 1,080 educated students are working in the Science and Technology Park in Markazi Province that is one of the active parks in the country, and there are big parks that created many jobs," he said during a video conference with heads of science and technology parks.

"The number of science and technology parks has increased by 19 percent since 2014 to 43 parks," the head of state added.

"Knowledge based companies have been active in supplying healthcare, disinfectant and testing kits, and there is a good opportunity for export of nano and bio technology products," he said. "Some science and technology parks are even trying to test herbal medicine to treat coronavirus although receiving the final result will take time. The knowledge based companies that are working on testing kits, masks and ventilators should be supported/"

"There is capacity to export serology-based test kits for COVID-19 in the future, when we reach a point of self-sufficiency in producing disinfectant and detergents, and we can export these products, too," Rouhani said.
