Uzbekistan aims to boost business activity in country's Andijan region

The government of Uzbekistan plans to create 42,000 jobs in the Andijan region through 789 projects,Trend reports citing the press service of the president.

Measures on the opening of new businesses and jobs in the region were discussed at a meeting held on May 22, 2020, which was attended by President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

It is planned to launch 789 projects worth seven trillion soum ($689.4 million) of investments and create 42,000 workplaces, the message said.

As reported, 13 projects worth $106 million will be implemented in the textile sector to raise yarn processing to 78 percent and increase the export to $278 million.

In the construction materials industry, it is planned to allocate $106 million to launch manufacturing import substitution products within 74 projects to be implemented from 2020 through 2021.

In addition, 353 billion soum ($34.7 million) of loans and $20 million from Reconstruction and Development Fund will be allocated to support family entrepreneurship in the region, the message said.

During the meeting, the head of state gave instructions on the efficient use of empty buildings, accelerated development of agriculture, as well as broad and targeted education of the population in more than 60 professions, the income from involvement in which will not be taxed.
