The transportation of iron ingots from the Rasht city of Gilan Province (northern Iran) to the Bandar Abbas port in the Hormozgan Province (southern Iran) has begun, a senior official at the Iranian Northern Railway Gholamhossein Valadi told journalists, Trend reports citing IRNA.
Valadi stressed that 60,000 tons of iron ingots produced by Khazar Steel Complex will be transported by this railway.
Valadi added that in the first stage, 800 tons of ingots were loaded to wagons. These products will be exported through the Bandar Abbas port.
The Qazvin-Rasht railway line was put into operation in Iran in March 2019. The Qazvin-Rasht railway will initially carry 4 million passengers and 1.5 million tons of cargo a year. Gradually, this figure will be increased to 5.8 million passengers and 7 million tons of cargo. The length of the Qazvin-Rasht railway is 164 km.
