BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 24

By Nargiz Sadikhova - Trend:

Turkish Northern Plywood Mill LLP will launch a wood processing project in North Kazakhstan region, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s KAZAKH INVEST National Company.

The project will be implemented at the old workshop of the Petropavlovsk Pipe Plant. The plant has already been completely renovated and equipment currently is being installed. Production process is to be launched this autumn.

The future plant with an area of 10,000 square meters is to produce about 18,000 cubic meters of laminated plywood annually. The project with a total cost of 2 billion tenge ($4.8 million) will provide jobs for about 150 people.

The company’s Director Oguzkhan Chelik said that it is planning to mainly buy Kazakh wood.

“The laminate will be produced and delivered from Germany. The equipment is being purchased from Turkey, Germany and Russia,” Chelik said.

The new production facility is to use modern processing technologies, and the entire process will be automated.

“We will use advanced technologies for steaming, gluing and pressing. Currently, similar products from Russia are widely used in the Kazakh market. We hope that products made at the future plant will be able to replace imported goods,” Chelik said.
