Major Iranian steel companies' concentrate production increased by 1 percent, pellet production by 2 percent, sponge iron production by 11 percent and crude steel production by 8 percent during the first 4 months of the current year (March 20-July 21, 2020), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Trend reports citing Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO).
According to the report, the production of concentrate by major Iranian steel companies exceeded 16 million tons during four months, and pellet production was 14.7 million tons.
"The sponge iron production was 10.5 million tons and crude steel production was more than 7.4 million tons," the report said.
In addition, the production of iron concentrate by major Iranian steel companies increased by 12 percent in the 4th month (June 21-July 21) compared to the same month last Iranian year.
The most growth was recorded in the production of Iran's Middle East Mines Industries Development Holding Company (67 percent), Sanabad Company (33 percent) and Chadormalu Mining and Industrial Company (27 percent), according to the report.
In general, the production of iron concentrate by major Iranian steel companies in the 4th month exceeded 4.13 million tons, the report noted.
According to the report, pellet production of major Iranian steel companies increased by 4 percent in the fourth month. The most production was in Khorasan Steel Company (36 percent) and the Middle East Mines Industries Development Holding Company (21 percent). In total, production was more than 3.55 million tons in the 4th month.
"The production of sponge iron in Iran increased by 6 percent in the 4th month of current Iranian year compared to the same month last Iranian year. The most growth was recorded in the production of Khouzestan Steel Company (17 percent), Mobarakeh Steel Company (5 percent). In total, more than 2.36 million tons of sponge iron was produced in the fourth month," the report said.
According to the report, the production of crude steel by major Iranian steel companies increased by 8 percent in the 4th month of current Iranian year compared to the same month last Iranian year. In total, more than 1.81 million tons of crude steel was produced in the fourth month.
Iran's major steel companies are mainly Mobarakeh Steel Company, Khouzestan Steel Company, Esfahan Steel Company, National Iranian Steel Company, South Kaveh Steel Company, Chadormalu Mining and Industrial Company, Sirjan Iranian Steel Company, Oxy Steel Company, Binab Steel Company, Iran's Middle East Mines Industries Development Holding Company and others.
