Iran discloses number of countries where exports vegetables

BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 12

Iran exported vegetables to 37 countries, including Azerbaijan, the UK, Canada, Australia, Bahrain, Germany, Russia, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Poland, Kuwait, the UAE, Qatar, Turkey, Norway, Oman and Iraq during the first five months of the current Iranian year (March 20-August 21, 2020), Spokesman for the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Rouhollah Latifi said, Trend reports citing IRICA.

Latifi emphasized that the most vegetables were exported to Iraq ($109 million), the UAE ($53.9 million) and Oman ($12.8 million).

"Thus, Iran exported a total of 1.09 million tons of vegetables worth $241 million in five months," he added.

The spokesman noted that Iran currently ranks 5th place in the world and 1st place in the Middle East for vegetable exports.

According to Latifi, the exported goods were mainly watermelon, melon, zucchini, eggplant, pepper, cabbage, corn, celery, beans, tomatoes and mushrooms.

Iran exported 38 million tons of goods worth $10.9 billion and imported 13.8 million tons worth $13.7 billion over the first five months of current Iranian year.
