Iran's National Information Network to function alongside global internet
TEHRAN, Iran, Sept.26
Iran's National Information Network be working alongside global internet, said the Head of the Civil Defense Organization of Iran Brigadier General Gholam Reza Jalali, Trend reports via IRNA.
"The aim of the National Information Network is not to be an alternative for global internet , it could even lead to increase of global internet speed like what happened in South Korea, China and Singapore," said Jalali.
"In order to fully establish the National Information Network, there should be mutual understanding on important issues," he said.
"We believe that we should have our national sovereignty in cyber space, and the National Information Network is one of the vital parts of this sovereignty," he said.
"There are many people who have online businesses, and our enemies can use that as weak spot to threaten our economic security," Jalali said.
He reminded that Iran already has experience of dealing with the Stuxnet cyber attack on its nuclear facilities.
"This was a cyber war targeted to affect our vital infrastructure, and so far it has failed," he said.
