Domestic Producer Price Index for Industrial Products up in Georgia

The Domestic Producer Price Index for Industrial Products (DPPI) increased by 1.7 percent in September 2020 in Georgia compared to the previous month, Trend reports referring to the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).

In the mentioned period the prices for manufactured products were 1.2 percent higher.

Compared to September 2019, the DPPI increased by 4.8 percent.

The prices went up for manufactured products by 5.7 and for products from electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning by 8.6 percent. In the same period, the prices for products from mining and quarrying decreased by 6.3 percent.

Georgia exported locally produced goods worth $2.40 billion from January through September 2020, which is 12.2 percent lower year-on-year.

As reported, the share of domestic exports (export of locally produced goods and services, including those of foreign origin that have been substantially changed through local processing) in total exports constituted 71.6 percent and amounted to $1.72 billion, 2.8 percent higher to the January-September 2019.

In January-September 2020 the share of the top ten trading partners by domestic exports in the total domestic exports of Georgia amounted to 79.7 percent. The top partners were China ($343.4 million), Russia ($280.1 million), and Bulgaria ($228.3 million).
