Georgia reveals volume of exported citrus fruits

BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 4

By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

This year, large quantities of citrus fruits were exported from Georgia to Russia and Azerbaijan, Trend reports via Georgian media.

For 9 months of this year, Georgia sold to Russia 5,323.8 tons of dried or fresh citrus fruits in the amount of $3.16 million.

During the reporting period, 540.6 tons of citrus fruits worth $474,500 were exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan.

The next place is occupied by Ukraine in the five countries-exporters of citrus fruits, where Georgia exported 180.1 tons of citrus fruits for the amount of $57,300 for 9 months of this year.

Turkey is in the last place in the top five, where this year 199.6 tons of citrus fruits were exported from Georgia in the amount of $65,100 under the 0805 trademark.

Harvesting of citrus fruits in Georgia begins at the end of October. According to the preliminary forecast, the citrus harvest this year will decrease by about 20,000 tons compared to last year. The reason for this was bad weather. The forecast for this year's citrus harvest is 40,000 tons.
