Prices on some construction-related services surge in Kazakhstan year-on-year

The prices in Kazakhstan’s construction sector have decreased by 0.3 percent in Dec. 2020 as compared to Dec 2019, and remained the same as compared to Nov. 2020, Trend reports citing Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.

The report said that the prices on construction and installation works dropped by 0.9 percent compared to Dec. 2019 and increased by 0.2 percent compared to Nov. 2020.

The prices of equipment and machinery used in construction surged by 0.9 percent year-on-year and decreased by 0.4 percent month-on-month. The cost of other types of construction-relates services have increased by 1.3 percent as compared to Dec. 2019 and by 0.1 percent as compared to Nov. 2020.

The prices of bricks for construction organizations increased by 1.6 percent in Dec. 2020 compared to Nov. 2020, whereas prices of sand and gravel mixture grew by 1.3 percent, electrical equipment by 0.7 percent, building solutions by 0.4 percent.

In turn, prices of natural sand decreased by 2.2 percent, oil road bitumen by 1.5 percent, Portland cement by 0.1 percent.

Over 28 years of independence, 141 million square meters of housing have been commissioned in Kazakhstan. A unified model of housing throughout the country is developed, where the main principle is to increase the affordability of housing, especially for socially sensitive segments of the population.

To improve the living conditions of the people and create affordable opportunities, the introduction of new mortgage lending programs, which further increased the availability of housing mortgages, was initiated in the country.
