Kazakhstan to take measures on ramping up agricultural exports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Jan. 28

By Nargiz Sadikhova – Trend:

Kazakhstan will undertake measures to double the export of agricultural products, a source in the country’s Agricultural Ministry told Trend on Jan.28.

According to the source, these measures will be taken within the framework of a new national project for the development of the agro-industrial complex until 2026, currently being developed by the ministry.

As noted in the source, the future national project will envisage forming ecosystems for the production and processing of agricultural raw materials around large investment projects, including meat, fruits, vegetables, sugar, grains, oilseeds, and dairy products.

Besides, it’s planned to elaborate a package of measures to stimulate cooperation in the countryside. Special attention will be paid to actions to form human capital in agriculture in order to solve the problem of a shortage of professional personnel in the industry, increase the level of development of agricultural science, and provide the domestic market with socially significant food products.

Among the social measures, the program plans to include solutions that ensure stable growth in the income of rural residents and labor productivity by 2.5 times.

"In order to develop the national project, as well as implement the instructions of the country’s prime minister, the ministry has set up a working group," the source said.

The working group has included deputy governors of the local regions, heads of public industry associations and unions, international experts in the field of agricultural development, members of the ‘Atameken’ National Chamber of Entrepreneurs, as well as representatives of business and agricultural science.
