Kazakhstan, Russia trade decreases amid COVID-19

The value of trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Russia amounted to $18.1 billion in 2020, compared to $19.9 billion during 2019, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.

The share of Russia in the total value of Kazakhstan’s trade turnover stood at 21.4 percent during the reporting period, compared to 20.4 percent during the same period of 2019.

Kazakhstan’s export to Russia amounted to $4.8 billion over the period from January through Dec. 2020, compared to $5.6 billion during the same period of 2019.

Russia’s share in the total volume of Kazakhstan’s export amounted to less than 10.4 percent during the reporting period of 2020, compared to less than 9.8 percent during the same period of 2019.

In turn, Kazakhstan’s imports from Russia amounted to nearly $13.3 billion over the reporting period, compared to $14.3 billion during the same period of 2019.

Russia’s share in the total volume of Kazakhstan’s imports amounted to 34.9 percent during the reporting period of 2020 compared to 36 percent during the same period of 2019.

The total volume of Kazakhstan’s trade turnover amounted to $85.03 billion over the period from January through Dec. 2020 which indicates a decrease from $97.7 billion during the same period of 2019.

Kazakhstan’s export amounted to $46.9 billion during the reporting period of 2020 ($58.06 billion in the same period of 2019), whereas imports amounted to $38.08 billion ($39.7 billion in 2019).

During the reporting period, the main articles of Kazakhstan and Russia’s trade turnover were food products, agricultural products, as well as products of the chemical industry.
