Azerbaijan issues data on foreign trade turnover of precious stones, natural pearls

Azerbaijan’s revenues from the export of precious and semiprecious stones, as well as natural pearls decreased by 40 percent or $6.6 million in January 2021, Trend reports with reference to the statistical bulletin of the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee.

The export turnover of the mentioned products amounted to over $9.9 million.

The share of precious and semi-precious stones, as well as natural pearls in the total export of Azerbaijan lowered from 0.78 percent to 0.61 percent.

The import of precious and semiprecious stones, as well as natural pearls also declined for the year ($645,500 compared to $845,800 in January 2020).

The share of these products in the total import of Azerbaijan amounted to 0.08 percent, decreasing in annual terms by 0.04 percentage points.

In general, the volume of foreign trade turnover of precious and semi-precious stones, as well as natural pearls in January 2021 amounted to $10.6 million, which is by 39 percent less than in the same month of last year.

Overall, in January 2021, Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover exceeded $2.4 billion. More than $1.6 billion of that amount or 67.34 percent accounted for export while the remaining $787.5 million or 32.66 percent for import.
