Iran's food exports increase

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Mar.23

Trend:

Export of food items including nuts, fruits and vegetables, sweets, and fish has increased in last Iranian year (started March 20, 2020) despite global pandemi.

Iran's export of nuts and dried fruits in 11 months of last Iranian year was 633,000 tons valued at $1.7 billion that indicate 43 percent growth compare to the previous year, Trend reports citing IRNA.

Export of pistachio had 47 percent growth, while the date and raisins export had 41 percent growth more than other food items.

Iran's fruit and vegetable export during this period had 24 percent growth that included onion, orange and tomato mostly exported to Iraq.

Export of fish, feed and protein products had increased in 11 months in last Iranian year to 311,000 tons valued at $389 million that has shown 1 percent growth compared to the previous Iranian year. Iran's sweet and chocolate export to neighboring countries, European Union, Eurasia and African countries have developed.

Iran and Eurasia Free Trade Agreement were one of the elements that caused the increase of Iran's export to countries in the Eurasian Union including Russia and Kazakhstan.

Iran's trade during 11 months of last Iranian year was 134 million tons of commodity valued at $65.5 billion that included 103 million tons of export valued 31.1 billion and 30 million tons of import valued at $34.3 billion.
