Iran boosts dried fruit exports

Iran's dried fruit exports increased by 42 percent in terms of value and 54 percent in terms of volume in the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2020, through March 20, 2021), compared to the preceding Iranian year (from March 21, 2019, through March 19, 2020), an official of the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPOI) Mahmoud Bazari said, Trend reports referring to the organization’s website.

The official noted that Iran exported 776,000 tons of dried fruit worth $2.03 billion over the last Iranian year.

“So, 204,000 tons of pistachios worth $1.37 billion were exported from Iran last Iranian year. The pistachios exports accounted for 67 percent of Iran’s total dried fruit exports in the last Iranian year,” he added.

According to Bazari, Iran exported dried fruit to China, the UAE, India, Turkey, Iraq, Pakistan, Germany, Russia, Kazakhstan, Vietnam, Afghanistan, and other countries.

The official stressed that at the same time, Iran exported 339,000 tons of dates worth $297 million last Iranian year. Dates exports increased by 43 percent in terms of value and by 46 percent in terms of volume compared to the preceding Iranian year.

“Moreover, Iran exported 176,000 tons of raisins worth $234 million within last Iranian year. The raisins exports increased by 45 percent in terms of value and 48 percent in terms of volume compared to the preceding Iranian year,” he said.

Bazari also noted that if a number of problems (sanctions, coronavirus pandemic, transport problems, and so on) are removed, Iran's dried fruit exports will increase.
