Azerbaijan exported over 42,000 tons of persimmons in the first quarter of 2021, which is 1.7 times less compared to the same period of 2020, Gadir Yusifov, Chairman of the Persimmon Producers and Exporters Association of Azerbaijan, told Trend.

According to Yusifov, export revenues during this period exceeded $31 million.

"Azerbaijan will export a new batch of fresh persimmons to European countries in September 2021. Currently, the association exports persimmons that were grown in 2020. The harvest of 2021 will be delivered to Russia and European countries in September," Yusifov said.

"The export price of a kilogram of fresh persimmons averaged $1.5 over the past year, dried and frozen persimmons - $10. The price of a kilogram of fresh persimmons in the domestic market of Azerbaijan was 2.5-3 manat ($1.47-1.76)," he said.

The Persimmon Producers and Exporters Association of Azerbaijan was established in August 2017 by the initiative of entrepreneurs and with the support of the Ministry of Economy.

The main objectives of the association are: increasing the production of competitive and export-oriented products, as well as expanding the geography of foreign supplies.
