Uzbek Uzavtosanoat company plans to allocate $427.7 million to organize the production of Chevrolet Onix and Tracker cars on the basis of the UzAuto Motors plant, Trend reports referring to the Portal for discussing draft regulatory legal acts of Uzbekistan.
The project is expected to be launched in September 2022 with a production capacity of 190,000 vehicles per year.
These figures are given in the draft presidential decree on the investment program of Uzbekistan for 2022-2024, published by the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade.
In addition, it is planned to establish an annual production of 185,000 engines for new car models at the UzAuto Motors Powertrain plant; $190.8 million was allocated to organize production in 2020-2023.
Recently it was reported that UzAuto Motors opened a production line in Azerbaijan in mid-September 2021. At the first stage of cooperation, it is planned to produce and sell Chevrolet Nexia and Chevrolet Cobalt cars. At the next stage, the production of Chevrolet Damas and Chevrolet Labo, as well as SamAvto buses will be launched.
