PPP projects to be signed at Tashkent Economic Forum in Uzbekistan

Agreements worth $2.6 billion on public-private partnership (PPP) projects will be signed on the sidelines of the Tashkent Economic Forum, Trend reports citing Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction.

Overall, agreements and loans worth $6.6 billion will be signed on the sidelines of Forum, said the Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction of Uzbekistan Jamshid Kuchkarov.

“We will sign a number of major agreements at this forum. In particular, agreements worth $600 million will be signed in the field of privatization. Moreover, agreements worth $2.6 billion on public-private partnership projects and agreements on foreign loans worth $3.4 billion will be signed," Kuchkarov said.

On September 29-30, Tashkent is hosting an economic forum titled "Uzbekistan: Achievements of Economic Reforms and Their Prospects."

The first day of the forum will be devoted to new plans for the country's economic growth and related challenges. Within its framework, discussions will be held on regional cooperation and human capital development and a panel dialogue on the role of economic openness in ensuring competitiveness.

On the second day, the focus will be on privatization, development of small and medium-sized businesses and Uzbekistan's place in global supply chains and sustainable energy.
